The Iowa Forestry Field Days program is sponsored in cooperation with the local Department of Natural Resources' District Forester, County Extension Office, and frequently with the County Conservation Board. The program is intended to serve private woodland owners, public land managers, forestry consultants and service providers, and interested citizens of Iowa. Field days consist of 3 to 6 hours of outdoor classroom instruction on topics related to the improvement of woodland resources or the expansion of tree resources. Between 10 and 15 programs are typically available across the state. Specific topics considered vary and are tailored to local needs. A packet of useful reference materials related to the topics being considered is provided. Forestry Field Days have been available in Iowa for 20 years.
