Windbreak School is coming to Buena Vista County - Friday, February 3, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.!
This indoor event will occur at the Prairie Lakes AEA, 824 Flindt Drive, Storm Lake, IA.
This FREE, in-person event will focus on windbreak establishment, management (including pests/disease), reonvation, and recovery - to help ensure these critcial components of farm infrastructure exhibit perpetual functionalilty and resilience.
Notable topics include: windbreak design, species selection and diversity, selecting and planting stock (e.g., bare root seedlings), pruning, disease ID and management, and wildlife/pollinator considerations.
Most important, participants will be able to network one-on-one with windbreak professionals that serve NW IA, including: Natural Resources Conservation Service staff, Foresters with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, ISU Extension faculty and staff, as well as an ISU Plant Diagnostician (disease expert).
