The Iowa Watershed Academy

The Iowa Watershed Academy is a training held twice a year for watershed coordinators and other conservation professionals who offer technical assistance to farmers and landowners. These individuals are the “boots on the ground” necessary to adopt conservation systems, and recent research has shown that interaction with a conservation practitioner is the highest predictor of conservation adoption. The first Watershed Academy was held in 2016 and has continued to be offered every year, except in 2020. Topics covered at the Watershed Academy include technical agronomic topics as well as behavior change, communications and project management.
