The Iowa Tree Farm Program will celebrate the 2023 Iowa Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year during this forestry field day. The event, hosted in partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Buchanan County office of ISU Extension and Outreach, will take place on October 10, near the town of Jesup. The site offers exceptional examples of forest mangement to achieve wood, water quality, recreation, and wildlife habitat goals.
The Private Well Stewardship Program is an educational program offered through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. "The Private Well Stewardship Program helps Iowa’s 230,000 private well owners to learn about the responsibilities and risks of being a private well owner and connect them to local experts to manage their well,” said Catherine DeLong, water quality program manager with ISU Extension and Outreach. "Many private well owners in Iowa don't know that there is funding available in every county to help test their well annually.
The 2023 Shimek State Forest fall forestry field day will occur on October 3, at beautiful Lacey-Keosauqua State Park in Van Buren County. The site offers impressive examples of forest management for a wide range of goals, including wood, water, and wildlife. Partners include the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Lee and Van Buren County offices of ISU Extension and Outreach.
Graduates of Iowa State University’s Master Conservationist Program are invited to gather in the Loess Hills this September for the first-ever statewide meetup.
“The goal for this event is to get graduates together to explore different parts of Iowa while providing space for socializing and learning,” said Kaycie Waters-Brocka, natural resources field specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and co-director of the Master Conservationist Program.

The 2023 Yellow River State Forest fall forestry field day will ne held on Tuesday, 9/19/23, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The event will focus on forest change, and how foresters guide this change to achieve a range of management objectives of interest to private woodland owners and stewards.
Participants will experience a chrono-sequence of forest management results, as we visit forest stands 5, 10, and 50 years post-management!
The Iowa Woodland Owners Association will host it's annual fall forestry field day on September 14, 2023, at beautiful Ledges State Park in Boone County.
Iowa Learning Farms, in partnership with the Des Moines Water Works and Conservation Learning Group, will host the second of three “Conservation On Tap” events, Thursday, Aug. 31, from 6-7 p.m. at Kinship Brewing Co. in Waukee.
Iowa Learning Farms will host a prairie and forestry field day Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 5-7 p.m. at Eric and Cindy Boehm’s Farm near Wadena. The free event is open to farmers and landowners and includes a complimentary meal.
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and the Iowa Nutrient Research Center will host a free half-day workshop on the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy and incorporating nutrient reduction practices into your farm operation on Friday, Aug. 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The workshop will be held at ISU Extension and Outreach's Field Extension and Education Laboratory near Boone.
