After graduating from St. Andrew’s University in Scotland with a degree in international relations, Catherine DeLong decided to try something different. For two years, she worked as a ski lift operator in Colorado, and enjoyed spending time outside on a beautiful mountain. That experience still informs her work today, as it helped inspire a passion for the environment and the natural landscape. She eventually returned to Iowa, her home state, to get a master’s degree in Soil Science and Environmental Science from Iowa State University.
